David Ganc, flute player, saxophonist and arranger, released six solo CDs: “Brazilian Ballads”, 1996 (Leblon Records), “Caldo de Cana”, 2000 (Kuarup Discos), “David Ganc & Guerra Peixe String Quartet perform Tom Jobim”, 2004 (nominated for the 2005 TIM Award for best instrumental group category), “Pixinguinha + Benedito, Mário Sève + David Ganc”, 2005 (Núcleo Contemporâneo), “Nocturne – David Ganc performs chamber music by Nivaldo Ornelas” Records), 2016, (Mills Records) and “Encounter”, 2019 (Mills Records) with the Ganc Adour Duo. Ganc started out in the seventies with cult band ‘A Barca do Sol’, which recorded three albums, the first one produced by Egberto Gismonti. After the band’s dissolution in 1980, David went to the United States, graduating at Berklee College of Music in 1984 / Professional Music and also earned its diploma of Classical Flute at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1986) and his Phd in Music at UNIRIO-Brasil (2017).
